Excellent readGood narrative that keeps the reader engrossed and guessing。A complete tale that leaves me wanting more plus some context of just where and when this episode fits in, hence 4 stars。 I want a view of the bigger picture!

Enjoyable, but perhaps one to many reverses in the plot?

This one had me excited for sure! Very intriguing story to me, with twists I didn’t see coming。 The biggest twist being … Me finding myself rooting for Asajj BIG TIME。 Loved it from the very begging to the end。 10/10 would recommend。

This arc was done far more justice in a book than it could have ever been in clone wars, as much as I love the show

Dark Disciple not only breathes more life and complexity into two incredible Clone Wars characters - Asajj Ventress and Quinlan Vos - Christie Golden's book also delves so much more into the mysticism of the Force, in particular the dark side。 Though I didn't have high expectations going into this book (I listened to it through Audible), I was blown away by the emotional intensity and high stakes。And I'll be honest, I wasn't the biggest fan of Asajj Ventress through watching her arcs in The Clon Dark Disciple not only breathes more life and complexity into two incredible Clone Wars characters - Asajj Ventress and Quinlan Vos - Christie Golden's book also delves so much more into the mysticism of the Force, in particular the dark side。 Though I didn't have high expectations going into this book (I listened to it through Audible), I was blown away by the emotional intensity and high stakes。And I'll be honest, I wasn't the biggest fan of Asajj Ventress through watching her arcs in The Clone Wars。 Though I grew to respect her character in the later seasons, she still wasn't among my favorites from the prequel era。 I had similar feelings with Count Dooku - they both just seemed like filler characters that weren't fully fleshed out。 But after reading Dark Disciple and Dooku: Jedi Lost, I've grown to love the intense and heartbreaking story of Asajj Ventress。 Dark Disciple finally gives Ventress the spotlight, climax and ending her character deserves。 Her romance with Quinlan Vos was a juicy "enemies to lovers" trope and gave the Star Wars universe some much-needed sexiness。 Though the ending was devastating, the novel breathed so much more life into Ventress and her importance with the Jedi and the galaxy。 。。。more

Very enjoyable Star Wars read。 Really well written approach to jumping back and forth between Light and Dark with this one。 Super fun。 Ventress and Vos twisted love story here is not your stereotypical teenage female audience target/focus type approach。 The author did a really great job here and thus far definitely one of the most interesting and complex romances within the Star Wars universe。Other random highlights: - More Dooku。 This book builds upon and enhances his power/villainous character Very enjoyable Star Wars read。 Really well written approach to jumping back and forth between Light and Dark with this one。 Super fun。 Ventress and Vos twisted love story here is not your stereotypical teenage female audience target/focus type approach。 The author did a really great job here and thus far definitely one of the most interesting and complex romances within the Star Wars universe。Other random highlights: - More Dooku。 This book builds upon and enhances his power/villainous character。 He Continues to grow into a great antagonist you love to hate。 - More Dathomir。- General Grevious appearance。 - Boba Fett and Bossk!- The sleeper。 I will just leave it at that。 Very enjoyable Star Wars book to add to the collection and reads like this make so glad I started this journey。 I honestly was going to give this a 4/5。。。 but I can't think of any reason or have anything negative to say about this book。。。 so I will have to give it a much deserved 5。 。。。more

A great take on an un-often tread path in the Star Wars universe, where the characters are very much situated in the twilight zone between the Light and the Dark sides。 Highly enjoyable and a must-read for fans of the franchise。

I finished reading this on the bus to work and I fought back tears because I have watched Ventress on screen since I was 12 and I watched her grow and develop into an amazing character, and to read those final pages with her final words。。。At least she's with her sisters now。 。。。more

disney im suing you for not animating this storywhile reading, i was constantly torn between losing all hope for happy endings and being angry that this wasn't animated because it's written in such a VISUAL WAY (or maybe I'm just used to hearing all the voice actors whenever I read any of the dialogue and also the intro tho??? peak clone wars vibes)。 i think the good thing about it being in book format was that we were able to read their internal monologues/thoughts- it doesn't always translate disney im suing you for not animating this storywhile reading, i was constantly torn between losing all hope for happy endings and being angry that this wasn't animated because it's written in such a VISUAL WAY (or maybe I'm just used to hearing all the voice actors whenever I read any of the dialogue and also the intro tho??? peak clone wars vibes)。 i think the good thing about it being in book format was that we were able to read their internal monologues/thoughts- it doesn't always translate in animation so it was good to see on paper!anyways, I loved this book SO MUCH, ventress is literally one of my favorite star wars characters so obviously I was so excited to read this AND IT DID NOT DISAPPIONT!! the snark, the SASS, the BANTER, the CAMEOS (obi-wan and anakin eSPECIALLY reading their dynamic hits different BRO PAGE 260 I WAS LITERALLY CRYING THEYRE SO STUPID, also yoda wisdom and internal jedi council complexities we love to see it)i definitely feel that some of the character development felt sudden, but again, there's a part of me that understands it because in episode format (which this book was basically written in), time just passes really quickly and the time that it takes for people to develop is skipped over。 I'm also lowkey bitter that such a bad*ss like ventress seemed less powerful towards the end?? i get that it's a character arc and everything considering all the people she's loved and been loved by, and now I'm slowly convincing myself that it's okay and it's all because of balance, but yeah, at times I wish (view spoiler)[ it didn't feel like she was willing to sacrifice herself for him when he betrayed her so many times however it could also be argued that she saved him from going down the same path that she did so it was a sacrifice for someone who she saw herself in not necessarily for love EHHHH it's all up for grabs (hide spoiler)] VOS AND VENTRESS dang, every single trope satisfied for real omggg, I loved the dymanic (an unexpected surprise because originally I was against a love interest for ventress) and the UNPREDICTABLE PLOT TWISTS REALLY HAD ME ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT (parallels between them and (view spoiler)[ anakin/padme (hide spoiler)] hurt so bad)also I love mentions of Barriss Offee and how the Jedi Council still makes poor decisions (bruh) SO INFURIATING WATCHING ALL THE LITTLE CLUES ABOUT PALPATINE NOT GET PIECED TOGETHER OR THEY SLIP AWAY OR WHATEVER AND IM LIKE BRUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHanyways I loved this book and even though it's not perfect, I have to give it 5 stars just because QUOTES, CHARACTER, ARCS, BANTER, COMEDY, the whole shabang, amazing favorite quotes: SOME SPOILERS HERE, READ AT UR OWN RISK"Most of the life, she had been with someone, only to inevitably lose them in the cruelest of ways。 。。。Dead now, all of them; they had loved her, and they were slain。 [。。。] There was [。。。] something terribly askew with a universe in which, out of all her allies and mentors, Dooku was alive and the others breathed no more。""'I wonder,' Vos mused, turning again to look at her。 'What's worse。。。to have unhappy stories, or have no story at all?'""Lights shone like eyes, and the whole thing reeked of power and the willingness to use it。""She awkwardly accepted Marg Krim's hanks and, much less awkwardly, the extremely large pile of credits he gave her。""'Sometimes it is a dark path we must tread so that long more for the light, we shall。'""'Former Sith,' Kenobi corrected, marveling not for the first time that he was now in the curious position of defending Ventress's honor。""Ventress felt a brief flash of amusement as she realized that for the first time, she was actually rooting for Skywalker。""'Sorry, Master Kenobi, you're breaking up! I think something might be wrong with my comlink。' 'Anakin!' 'Some say I'm reckless, others would say I have guts。 It's subjective,' Anakin, who had clearly nothing at all wrong with his comlink, said。""Anything else you can get from the comb?' he asked Vos。 'Well,' Vos replied, 'it's owner used to flex in the mirror when he thought no one was watching。'""'Ventress isn't capable of anything as selfless as love,' Anakin scoffed。 'And Vos coulnd't possibly have cared about a murderess like her。 Besides, she's the one who took him to the dark side in the first place。' Padme shrugged。 'Stranger things have happened,' she said。 'And maybe, if she loves him, she's his way back from it。'""She was a righteous angel, intent on destroying the thing she believed Vos to have become, and for a fleeting instant Kenobi wondered if he ever appeared that way to those he was forced to slay。""With respect, I've learned something from young Skywalker,' Vos said。 'Sometimes, it's easier to ask forgiveness than permission。'""[Droids] expected their enemy to behave in a logical fashion。 For instance, Ventress's present tactic of flying straight at them-""'No, he's still alive, just unconscious,' he said。 Ventress closed her eyes, scowling。 'Damn。'""'Commander,' he said, ' how manymen should we bring to the hangar?' This book really felt like the Clone Wars, even in the pacing it can be felt when one episode started and finishes, and all the characters maintained their essence from the show。 The novel is more character-based than plot-based, something that made the story shine in its last third, but which left more to be desired during its middle parts, where Asajj and Quinlan turned from business partners to lovers。 I felt the set-up could've been more solid, it was good but I was expecting a deeper explor This book really felt like the Clone Wars, even in the pacing it can be felt when one episode started and finishes, and all the characters maintained their essence from the show。 The novel is more character-based than plot-based, something that made the story shine in its last third, but which left more to be desired during its middle parts, where Asajj and Quinlan turned from business partners to lovers。 I felt the set-up could've been more solid, it was good but I was expecting a deeper exploration of their differences and individual struggles, what they found in each other and in their feelings。The decay of the Jedi Order was excellently presented, the decision to assassinate Count Dooku was properly developed at the start of the novel and it is evident how the Jedi started losing their way prior to their fall in Order 66。 The concept of flirting with the Dark side and not being engulfed by it that is present in Ventress' and Quinlan's storyline added flavor to the conflict between the Light and the Dark, and presented a great conflict for the characters and the narrative。Dark Disciple was a fast and enjoyable read, containing some of the best stuff Star Wars has to offer。 。。。more

-¿Y tu?

So in my read through of all Star Wars "new disney canon" material, I originally skipped over this book, but came back to it because of so many rave reviews。 I'm。。。 not sure I can fully agree with them? It was a pretty good book, but not like 5-star mindblowing, imo。 Plenty of action and excitement, perhaps just a bit too much romance for my taste。 I found the ending to kind of be all over the place though。 Definitely still worth the read for any Star Wars fan!
